Music Marketing Memo's founder builds content strategies from SEO-driven research into content strategies rooted in each artist's real story.

New York, NY (July 27, 2026) — Kelly Wong is a New York-based content creator, director, and strategist who leverages in-depth SEO research to guide ideas in the right direction, instead of a replacement for the art. Before a single script is written, she conducts research to surface what audiences are actively searching for, where the content gaps sit in her client’s genre, and which story angles are underserved but exhibit virality potential. This knowledge becomes the foundation of every content idea, which is a specific, audience-backed concept built around who the artist actually is. From there, she takes the reins on the complete end-to-end execution, creating storyboards, directing, filming, and editing every frame of the short-form project at hand.
When chart-topping jazz pianist Yoko Miwa wanted to inspire a new audience of young, Asian jazz listeners, she reached out to Wong. Wong analyzed SEO and search trends to see exactly what Miwa’s target audience was currently interacting with online. She then built a content strategy to bridge the gap between the young audience’s interest and Miwa’s content by using short-form video to capture a demographic that jazz music has historically struggled to entice. In just two months and without spending marketing dollars, she grew Miwa’s account following by 10% on Instagram and Facebook with a 152.6% increase in engagement.
In another collaboration, Wong worked with artist D'Chrome Foster on a campaign that generated more than 30 million organic views. After studying Foster's target audience, she developed a scripted four-part series that amplified the story behind the song ahead of its release to build momentum. It's one of several campaigns in which Wong's approach has outperformed paid-media benchmarks in the space.
“Artists don’t need a bigger budget; they need to be pointed in the right direction to create more content ideas that speak to their audiences. The fastest way to find the right direction is to use SEO to figure out what your audience is already interested in," says Wong. “Once you know that, you can meet them where they are and build content that authentically represents you, while simultaneously curating a purposeful content calendar.”
Wong recently launched her own creative agency, Music Marketing Memo (MMM), after seeing the same gap repeatedly in independent music. Many artists release music with real potential to chart, but lack direction to get it in front of the right audience. MMM's approach conducts in-depth market research, analyzing the competitive landscape and surfacing what audiences are actively searching for, with a content strategy built around each artist's real story and filling the space in the industry that's uniquely theirs. The result is a content system designed to get discovered by the long-term, loyal audience, not just more listeners.
About Kelly Wong
Kelly Wong is a New York-based writer, director, and content strategist, and the founder of Music Marketing Memo (MMM). She started her music journey as a classical musician, winning multiple awards including the Steinway Young Artists Competition, Crescendo International Music Competition, and more. Wong began writing and producing music during COVID and was then admitted into Berklee College of Music to further pursue her songwriting and music production skills. There, she worked alongside talented artists putting real work into their craft and self-releasing music without any promotional strategy for how to reach an audience once the music was done. Wong also worked in Berklee's media relations and marketing departments, where she saw firsthand how closely the two functions depend on each other because content and press coverage have to align for a story to be fully understood. That gap became the foundation for MMM, where Wong now builds narrative-driven marketing strategies designed to help the right listeners find the right artists, at the right moment.
